Story found in 'The Bakka Anthology'
This anthology collects original short stories by authors who have worked for Bakka Books, a science fiction bookstore in Toronto. The authors are Robert J. Sawyer, Tanya Huff, Fiona Patton, Michelle Sagara West, Tara Tallan, Cory Doctorow, Nalo Hopkinson, and Chris Szego. Not all of the stories are set in Toronto (Szego's contribution is a fantasy, for example) but many of the others are. Tanya Huff writes a story about Vicki Nelson, the heroine of her five Blood books. Fiona Patton's story is about some men from a town further north in Ontario, noted for the number of people there who have some sort of paranormal powers, as a group of them make a trip down to Toronto to pick up an appliance. Cory Doctorow contributes a story that is set further in the future, but still a recognizable Toronto. And a number of the reminiscences in the introductions and afterwords talk about Toronto, and the history of Bakka (which has moved from Queen St. to Yonge St.).
