I am the savage haunting the memories of her past.
At my clan, in a world ravaged by a chemical accident, women are scarce. Being close to something as rare as a female requires honor and a functioning set of morals — I’m doomed to have neither.
When the Districts, the last government-controlled area, assigns Kenya as my mediator, I know I can’t trust myself around her.
My kind killed her father. Tried to rape her mother. And I’m no less dangerous because I carry years of unmet urges; outlawed cravings her body never experienced.
With peace negotiations on the verge of failure, I have to ignore that darkness she feeds in me. One that overshadows my very existence, threatening to put everything I love at risk: my freedom, my family… even her.
