Meet Deep Meadow Prince, an Aberdeen Angus worth six figures, and reportedly one of the gentlest bulls since Ferdinand. You'd find it hard to believe he was a killer, and Captain Heimrich is skeptical, too when Prince's owner, Mrs. Margaret Landcraft, is found in his stall, apparently trampled to death during a party in Westchester County.
Captain Heimrich wonders, too about Harvey and Wade, Margaret Landcraft's two sons, who are much more interested in converting the bull into cash than in carrying on the torch of Angus-breeding. Others who seem to have more on their minds than affairs bovine are the boys' ladies, a rival breeder named Arnold Thayer, also assorted neighbors, and the hands on the Landcraft farm.
