Warnings not to go to Scotland do not faze Nancy. She travels to that country to visit her maternal great-grandmother, accompanied by her father, Bess and George. A family heirloom is missing and Nancy hopes to recover it. While at the imposing estate in the Scottish Highlands, the young detective becomes involved in the mystery of missing flocks of sheep and a mysterious bagpiper.
