Discovering the body of a pie seller at Audley Castle's prestigious annual food fair was the last thing Holly Holmes expected when she volunteered for the castle’s information stand. Especially when the death wasn’t an accident.
Holly is focused on perfecting her entry into the baking contest that's held at the end of the food fair, but her curious nature means she can’t resist asking questions about how a pie slicer came to be stuck in a man’s back!
With pressure from Princess Alice to solve the murder, and Holly unable to resist snooping, she soon discovers a number of suspects. Luckily for her, she has help from her close-knit circle of friends, who offer support, friendship, and sometimes a few stumbling blocks.
And when a crisis hits the household, Holly has to juggle cake baking with official crime solving duties, under the ever watchful gaze of the castle’s security team.
As she investigates the victim’s life (and death) she learns about his shady business dealings. Could that be the reason he was killed? Or does the presence of an ex-girlfriend have something to do with it?
