When Taph goes to investigate some suspicious cargo coming into Xentra Station docks, the last thing he expects to find is a human woman in a box. Lea is beautiful - all humans are - but she's also stubborn and infuriating. Taph would rather gouge his own eyes out than spend any more time in her presence. But she might just be the only person who's prepared to take a huge risk to help him solve who's behind the human slave ring and stop them once and for all.
Lea can think of many places she'd rather be than with obnoxious, belligerent Taph. But she can't pass on the chance to get off Xentra Station, to go to another place where she might find human women. Where she might find her sister. If it means pretending to be Taph's possession so they can infiltrate a slaver's auction, so be it. But when they find themselves in even greater peril, the reluctant allies find that they have more in common than they realise.
That when it comes down to it, hate isn't such a long way from love…
